Stability of some turbulent vertical models for the ocean mixing boundary layer

چکیده
We consider four turbulent models to simulate the boundary mixing layer of the ocean. We show the existence of solutions to these models in the steady-state case then we study the mathematical stability of these solutions. Mixing height of the atmospheric boundary depends on the vertical variation of temperature in the atmosphere which includes temperature inversion (including surface and elevated inversions) that has a significant effect on air quality. The mixing height like some other meteorological variables has diurnal variations. The reason for that is its dependence on some other basic meteorological param...
متن کاملNumerical Modeling of Turbulent Processes in outflow of the Persian Gulf
In this study, measured hydrophysical data collected by the University of Miami researchers from the southern part of the Strait of Hormuz during the period December 1996 to March 1998 and climate data from the Qeshm island meteorological station were used to simulate water column turbulence south of the Qeshm Island, via General Ocean Turbulence Model (GOTM). The model does not use slip and fl...
متن کاملA Comparison of Two Vertical Mixing Schemes in a Pacific Ocean General Circulation Model
The upper Pacific Ocean current and temperature have been simulated by a 3-dimensional ocean general circulation model (OGCM) with two different vertical mixing schemes. One corresponds to the modified Richardson number dependent scheme of Pacanowski and Philander (PP, 1981); the other is adapted from the newly developed K-Profile Parameterization (KPP) scheme (Large et al., 1994). Both schemes...
متن کاملMixing by Tidal Interaction with Sloping Boundaries
The process of mixing by tides interacting with topography involves several stages. First some fraction of the energy contained in the barotropic tide must be converted into baroclinic energy, through the generation of internal tides and turbulent boundary layers. Secondly, the energy in the internal tides must be transmitted into smaller vertical wavelengths, thereby increasing the vertical sh...
متن کاملTowards an Analytical Model for Film Cooling Prediction using Integral Turbulent Boundary layer
The objective of this work is to develop deep theoretical methods that are based on the solution of the integral boundary layer equations for investigating film cooling in liquid rocket engine. The integral model assumes that heat is transferred from hot free stream gas to the liquid film both by convection and radiation. The mass is transferred to the free srteam gas by the well-known blowing ...
